Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s marriage is the talk of the town this week. The two stars have jetted off to Italy for their big day with their families and close friends. The couple has kept their wedding private with no photographs or videos being shared from their pre-wedding festivities, but a few details have emerged.
The couple and their guests are residing at the Casta Diva Resort and Spa while their wedding ceremony will take place at the Villa del Balbianello, a former monastery, on the beautiful Lake Como. Both Singh and Padukone will be wearing Sabyasachi designs to the ceremony. The couple already had their sangeet and mehendi ceremony, where the bride-to-be was moved to tears by a performance by singer Shubha Mudgal.
At the celebrations, Singh is said to have sung the hit song ‘Tune Maari Entriyaan’ from his film Gunday (2014) and followed it up with more Punjabi wedding songs performed by Harshdeep Kaur, Sanjoy Das, Bobby Pathak and Firoz Khan. The couple have exchanged rings in a traditional Konkani ceremony called Phool Muddi (flower ring). It was followed by a puja.
Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Farah Khan are all expected to be a part of the big day.
After their big wedding in Italy, Padukone and Singh, with their families, are going to have two wedding receptions, one in Mumbai and another in Bangalore, the bride’s hometown. They have asked guests not give them any gifts and instead donate to Padukone’s The Live Love Laugh Foundation, an organisation founded to help combat the stigmas against depression and mental health.
