Vivek Oberoi turns into prime minister Narendra Modi

Vivek Anand Oberoi is playing India’s prime minister Narendra Modi in his biopic titled PM Narendra Modi. The makers have revealed the actor’s nine looks from the movie depicting different periods in Modi’s life.

One gets to see the protagonist as a simple villager, a youngster dressed in formals, a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) member, India’s prime minister, among other looks. Oberoi is also dressed as a sardar in one look. This probably would be the period of Emergency when Modi and others from the RSS were secretly protesting against it. His look as a swami (Indian priest) could be from the time when he was wandering in the north India.

Although a lot of effort has been put in to make Oberoi look like Modi during different facets of his life, he doesn’t resemble him much. Whether he has mastered Modi’s way of speaking will only be known when the film is out.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah was scheduled to launch the second poster of the movie today. However, due to the demise of Goa chief minister and former defence minister Manohar Parrikar, the event has been postponed.

PM Narendra Modi is Omung Kumar’s third biopic after Mary Kom (2014) and Sarbjit (2016). The film is produced by Sandeep Ssingh and Vivek’s father and veteran actor Suresh Oberoi.

The film will be released on 12 April.
