The Surgical Strike off a good start 

After proving himself as one of the finest young actors in recent times, Vicky Kaushal is now keen to prove that he is a commercially viable actor as well. Uri: The Surgical Strike is off to an impressive start after it bagged Rs8.25 crore nett on its opening day, as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Uri: The Surgical Strike is based on the Indian army’s surgical strike in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir [PoK] in retaliation against the terror attack in Uri, in 2016. Kaushal plays Major Vihaan Singh, the man who leads the daring operation. 

The film is made at an estimated budget of Rs25 crore [Prints & Advertisement]. Uri had released across 2200 screens in India.  

Vicky Kaushal was part of Sanju (2018) which also amassed Rs334.57 crore nett in domestic business. Similarly, Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi (2018) made over Rs122 crore nett. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt played the lead in the above films respectively. 

With Uri, Kaushal has recorded his highest opening day collection as a solo lead. The film has largely received good reviews, and producers RSVP will hope that the film’s strong word of mouth only helps its collections grow over the weekend. 

Director Vijay Ratnakar Gutte’s controversial film The Accidental Prime Minister was off to a slow start bagging Rs3.50 crore nett. Made at an estimated budget of Rs30 crore, The Accidental Prime Minister has released across 1400 screens in India. 

Produced by Jayantilal Gada, The Accidental Prime Minister has Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna in the leading roles. The film is based on Sanjaya Baru’s book of the same name. Baru was the media advisor to the former Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh. Kher is playing the former prime minister, while Khanna has essayed the role of Baru in the film. 

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh’s smash hit film Simmba has begun to slow down. The Rohit Shetty directed action drama made Rs2.75 crore nett on its third Friday to take its India total so far to Rs213.76 crore.
