Simmba goes steady, crosses Rs200 crore mark

Director Rohit Shetty and actor Ranveer Singh celebrated the success of Simmba on Monday night, and the Tuesday figures seem to justify that celebration. The film dropped by 5% on Tuesday, but still added Rs5.50-5.75 crore approximately to its total collection. This takes the film’s box office total to Rs201 crore according to figures from Boxofficeindia.com.

This puts Simmba as one of the highest earning films this year. In terms of all time collections, the film may overrun two of Shetty’s biggest hits, Chennai Express (2013) and Golmaal Again (2017). Chennai Express earned Rs278 crore in its lifetime, while Golmaal Again managed Rs264 crore in its lifetime India collections.

Simmba review: Perfect mass entertainer driven by Ranveer Singh’s high-energy act

Simmba managed Rs150 crore at the end of its first week, and by Monday, had touched the Rs196 crore mark. The steady earning in the film’s second week has seen approximately Rs51.50 crore added to its collection over five days (Saturday to Wednesday).

With Uri:The Surgical Strike set to be released on Friday, it remains to be seen if Simmba manages to hit the mark set by Chennai Express or Golmaal Again this week. However, the audience response seems to indicate a positive trend.

With the Gully Boy trailer set to be released today, Singh might count this as a good omen.
