Shweta Tripathi goes bald for Gone Kesh

Actress Shweta Tripathi will be playing a bald girl in her upcoming movie Gone Kesh. Directed by Qasim Khallow, the film deals with a disorder called Alopecia. It is a disorder where the immune system attacks the hair follicles resulting in hair loss.

According to the makers, Tripathi did a lot of research to get into the skin of her character. “The actor plays the role of an aspiring dancer who has this auto-immune disorder that usually results in unpredictable, patchy hair loss. In order to get her character right, Tripathi attended several workshops in order to research for her character in the film and get more information,” said an official statement from the makers.

The actress has said that she became eager to do the film even before she completed reading the script. “I knew I was doing the film halfway through the script Qasim sent. The story is so full of heart and took me through a roller coaster of emotions. It’s during the prep of the film I realised how we take things (like hair) for granted,” she said in her statement.

Tripathi is known for her roles in Haramkhor (2017) and the web-series Mirzapur (2018).

The actress added that the film gives a message that baldness isn’t to be made fun of. “I feel hair loss and baldness really takes a toll on people’s confidence. Baldness is made fun of and people, especially women, find it hard to accept it and in turn tackle it. I felt with this film we lighten it up and yet ensure the message comes across. Because bald is beautiful,” she added.

Khallow has been a part of a number of well-known films like Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Gunday (2014), Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015), and Fan (2016). He has also acted in films like Chamku (2008) and Kill Dill (2014).

Produced by Dhirendra Nath Ghosh Films, Gone Kesh will be released on 29 March.
