Director Shashanka Ghosh will be helming the Hindi remake of the well-acclaimed and successful Hollywood film Begin Again (2014). Directed by John Carney, the film featured Keira Knigthley, Mark Ruffalo and Adam Levine in prominent roles.
The film was about a struggling record label executive (Ruffalo) and a young singer-cum-songwriter (Knightley) who decide to re-build their lives.
While speaking about the film, Ghosh said in an official statement, “We want to tell a story about the world of music and fresh voices in sound on the Indian scene. And through that, a take on urban relationships that don’t necessarily mean love and marriage and happily ever after. The worlds explored here are deeper than surface level – heart, hurt, passion, and above all – music.”
The remake will be a collaboration between Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Vikram Malhotra-led Abundantia Entertainment.
T-Series is known for giving music a lot of importance in their films. “Begin Again will give us an opportunity to create music that is the most important element of the film. The original film is a masterpiece that is appreciated by critics as well as the audiences,” producer Kumar said in a statement.
It is not known when the film will go on the floors and who will be cast in it. “The film is still in the writing process but I hope to get together the best of the soundtracks from our musicians to make a unique music album,” added Kumar.
Ghosh’s film Veere Di Wedding was released last year. Starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania, the movie became a success at the box office.
