The coming of the 45th and current President of the United States of America brought about the popularity of several individuals. Sean Spicer may have been famous among his peers and colleagues, but he wasn’t known across the globe until Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton and emerged the winner of the 2016 presidential election.
As Spicer supported Trump right from the time he became the Republican nominee and all through the scandals, allegations and the unusual things he was accused of while he was getting set to face Hillary at polls, it wasn’t a surprise when Donald named him as White House press secretary on 22nd December 2016.
The surprise came 7 months later in July 2017, when Spicer decided that he’s had enough of the position Trump wants him to hold. What happened? Trump made Anthony Scaramucci, a man Spicer obviously don’t fancy much, the director of White House communications. It is believed Trump was advised to bring-in Scaramucci so that he would compensate for Spicer’s unsatisfactory performance as press secretary.
Apart from the fact that Spicer was growing fond of making statements which were in conflict with the President’s stance, it was believed that he was ridiculing himself and embarrassing the administration anytime he mounts the podium. Everyone still thinks he made a fool of himself in his first role as White House press secretary. You will recall that Spicer talked down to journalists claiming they under-reported the size of President Trump’s inauguration crowd.
Sean Spicer eventually resigned tweeting that he felt honoured and privileged to have served President Trump who returned the gesture by thanking Sean for his service and wished him success in his pursuit of new opportunities. Three months later, another surprise! Spicer for the first time advocated that the sexual harassment and assault accusations against Mr Trump must be treated seriously.
