Salman Khan’s television series on Gama Pehelwan to kick off in April 

Actor Salman Khan’s tryst with Indian wrestling will continue with his next project. The actor has reportedly set his next television production on the life of Gama Pehelwan in motion. The series will be directed by Puneet Issar, and will feature Sohail Khan in the titular role. A recent report suggests that the series will likely go into production in April. 

This will mark Salman’s second venture into television production after the successful, The Kapil Sharma Show. Khan has also previously played a wrestler in the hit, Sultan (2016). 

Gama Pehelwan was known as India’s first world champion in wrestling, and often considered one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Born in 1878, Lahore, he was first noticed at the age of 10, when he stunned wrestlers with his own physical ability. He would later travel the world fighting bouts, remaining undefeated till the end. 

According to the daily tabloid Mumbai Mirror, the series is likely to go on the floors in April and will be shot across Punjab and London. With Issar set to take on the directorial reins, the series will feature Sohail Khan in the titular role and Mohammed Nazim in the role of the brother, Imam Baksh. 

Salman will also be seen in Ali Abbas Zafar’s upcoming, Bharat, which will be out later this year.
