Director-actor Satish Kaushik’s film, Kagaz, has now found a new supporter in actor Salman Khan. The film, featuring Pankaj Tripathi in the lead, will be produced by the director’s Bharat co-star, Khan.
Kaushik’s film is based on the real story of Lal Bihari, a farmer who was declared dead by his relatives so they could usurp his property. Tripathi is expected to play Lal Bihari, who continues to fight a legal battle to get back his rights.
A Mumbai Mirror tabloid report states that Khan chose to produce the film after hearing a narration of the story by Kaushik on the sets of Bharat. Kaushik is making a cameo appearance in Bharat, and recently shot for a scene for the Ali Abbas Zafar film. Bharat is scheduled to be released on Eid, 5 June this year.
The report quoted a source as saying that Khan was ‘blown away’ by the story, and decided on backing the film immediately.
Kagaz went on the floors in October 2018, and concluded shooting the following month. In a recent interview with film critic Rajeev Masand, Tripathi called the role ‘my dream role’.
