Actor-producer Saif Ali Khan’s next home production, Jawani Janeman, will launch a new face in the role of Khan’s daughter. Alaia F, the daughter of actress Pooja Bedi and Farhan Furniturewala, and granddaughter of Kabir Bedi, will make her debut in Hindi cinema in the film directed by Nitin Kakkar.
Khan’s Black Knight Productions will co-produce the family drama with Jay Shewakramani’s Northern Light Films. He last produced Lekar Hum Deewana Dil and Happy Ending in 2014. Jawani Janeman will revolve around a father-daughter relationship.
The actor-producer told the daily tabloid Mumbai Mirror, “She has all the qualities we were looking for in the young lead, the charm and energy to take the film to the level that it needs. We are lucky to have found our perfect cast and I’m looking forward to work with Alaia.”
Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan was also rumoured to be cast in the film opposite her father, but it seems the producers decided against it.
Alaia’s mother, Pooja, made her debut in Vishkanya (1991), but is known more for her role in the cult film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992) with Aamir Khan.
Kakkar, who directed Filmistaan (2014) and Mitron (2018), is currently filming for Notebook (2019), produced by Salman Khan, in which Nutan’s granddaughter and Mohnish Bahl’s daughter, Pranutan, is cast alongside Zaheer Iqbal, son of Salman Khan’s close family friend.
Jawani Janeman will start workshops next month and the film’s shoot is due to begin in March 2019.
