Actress Rituparna Sengupta will be seen in a double role for the first time in Reshmi Mitra’s upcoming film Limelight. The actress will reportedly play a successful filmstar and a struggling actress. Written by Paramita Munshi, the film will tell stories from the alleys of the glamour world.
“It is quite challenging to see one’s own self in front. I have left the entire responsibility on the director. It depends on her how she will handle the two entities,” stated Sengupta, at the announcement of the film. According to the director, the film tells the story of two actresses Srimoyee and Archana. Sreemoyee is already a star, while Archana strives to achieve her stature.
“Limelight narrates the journey of a junior artiste, fraught with dilemmas, separations and love,” said the director. The film will explore the happiness, despair and various other complex emotions associated to the glamour world. However, the director refused to discuss whether the story has been inspired from Sengupta’s career and life.
Vocalist Anwesha Dutta will make her debut as a composer with the film. Sunidhi Chauhan and Javed Ali will lend their voices for Dutta’s compositions. Actress Sreela Majumdar and Sumitra Bandyopadhyay will appear in supporting roles in the film.
Limelight has been produced by Rajesh Singh of Dhanbad Talkies, with whom Sengupta did Colours Of Life earlier this year. Mitra has already started shooting for the film in various locations of Kolkata and north Bengal.
