A post by a journalist on social media suggested that actress-director Renuka Shahane has cast Shabana Azmi, Kajol and Mithila Palkar in her next yet-untitled film. It is also claimed that the film will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala. However, Shahane has denied any such development.
In an exclusive conversation with Cinestaan.com, the actress expressed her unhappiness over these claims. “It is irritating how people spread such news without confirming. It is distressing for the big actors whose names are taken. We have not finalized any actor yet. In fact, we have just started the casting process,” she said.
“When we finalize the cast, we will announce. What is their to hide?” she added.
Shahane also informed that the film will not be produced by Screwvala. “The film will be produced by Siddharth P Malhotra, who directed Hichki (2018),” she said.
She further clarified that she is also not a first-time director. “They have made me a debutant director. I have already directed a film [Rita (2009)],” she added.
Shahane later posted a tweet to make the clarifications.
Hey just to put the record straight. @sidpmalhotra is producing a film I am directing but the cast isn’t finalized. You will be surprised to know I’m not a debutante.
