She had made an impressive debut in Hansal Mehta’s Citylights (2014) opposite Rajkummar Rao. Yet Patralekhaa has not found too many opportunities in Hindi cinema.
The actress has now signed up for her maiden Kannada film, Where Is My Kannadaka? The title translates to Where Are My Spectacles?
Patralekhaa is being cast opposite the popular Kannada actor Ganesh in the film to be directed by the husband-wife duo of Raaj and Damini.
Speaking briefly to Cinestaan.com, Patralekhaa said, “I am very excited about Where Is My Kannadaka? as it is my first Kannada film.”
Buzz has it that the film will be shot in the United Kingdom.
Raaj Shetty and Damini Kanwal have written some episodes for television serials like Chhoti Bahu (2008-12). Kanwal was also a writer on the serial Shastri Sisters (2014-15). Kanwal and Shetty produced the TV show Bani: Ishq Da Kalma (2013-14).
Kanwal is also an actress, having played Yashoda in the popular mythological TV show Shri Krishna (1993).
As for Patralekhaa, she was last seen in the Abhay Deol-starrer horror comedy Nanu Ki Jaanu (2018). In an interview with film journalist Rajeev Masand, she had bemoaned how tough it has been to get good roles in Hindi cinema.
