Omung Kumar scouts locations in Uttarakhand for Modi biopic

Filmmaker Omung Kumar, whose last film was Bhoomi (2017) starring Sanjay Dutt, is right in the middle of pre-production for his next film, PM Narendra Modi. The director travelled to the state of Uttarakhand and was seen looking for locations to shoot in the town of Uttarkashi.

Omung Kumar has been on the project for the past two years. He also looked at Harshil village and the scenic Nelang valley as possible locations. The director also met the chief minister of the state, Trivendra Singh Rawat, while on his location hunt.

During the launch of the film’s first look poster with actor Vivek Oberoi, the art director-turned-filmmaker had stated, “This is one of the most difficult and challenging roles that I’ll be playing in my career which is to direct a film, a biopic of a man who is one of the most prolific leaders in the history of India. It’s the most challenging thing a director can do and I humbly take the opportunity that I try my level best to do full justice to and make a film that everyone will be proud of. We only require your blessings and support.”

PM Narendra Modi, produced by Sandip Ssingh, is due to begin filming after Republic Day, 26 January.
