October (2018) actress Banita Sandhu to make her Tamil debut with Varmaa

Banita Sandhu, who made a confident debut with Shoojit Sircar’s October (2018), is all set for her Tamil debut now.

According to a report in The Times of India newspaper, Sandhu has been signed on as the leading lady for Varmaa, the upcoming remake of Arjun Reddy (2017).

The makers of the film had announced last week that they would be reshoot the entire film after being disappointed with the output delivered by director Bala, who was roped in to helm the project at the behest of actor Vikram.

Varmaa, which was earlier slated for release this March, marks the debut of Vikram’s son Dhruv Vikram, who will be reprising Vijay Deverakonda’s role.

According to an official statement released by the makers, “E4 Entertainment has engaged B studios to recreate the Tamil version of Arjun Reddy titled Varmaa, on a first copy basis, on the latter’s insistence. We at E4 Entertainment are not happy with the final version handed over to us and due to various creative and other differences; we have decided not to release this version.”

The makers plan to start the shoot afresh with a new cast and crew, including the director. While Dhruv alone will be retained to play the lead character, the rest of the team is being hired afresh.

Reports have emerged that Gautham Menon could be handed over the reins of the project.

Apparently, Vikram has requested Menon to take over the project. The duo recently finished shooting for the upcoming Tamil spy thriller, Dhruva Natchathiram.

The new cast and crew will be announced soon.
