Producer Sandeep Ssingh has said his forthcoming film PM Narendra Modi will look at the human side of India’s prime minister as much as the political side.
“Everybody looks at him as a political figure,” Sandeep Ssingh said. “I think it is time to look at political figures as human beings also. He is a simple person, a chaiwala who became prime minister.”
Sandeep Ssingh also expressed surprise why nobody had thought of making a biopic on Narendra Modi before. “His journey is incredible. I wish someone had made this film much before,” he said.
The film sees Vivek Anand Oberoi play Modi. The film will showcase his journey from childhood to the time he became prime minister of India in 2014.
Sandeep Ssingh also spoke of how much Modi had inspired him and ventured to make a prediction for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “A personality and human being like Narendra Modiji does inspire everyone and that’s why he won with such a big majority [in 2014],” the producer said. “The nation is inspired by him and we will witness that in the 2019 election as well.”
PM Narendra Modi stars Barkha Sengupta as Modi’s wife Jashodhaben. The film marks the comeback of Vivek’s father and the film’s co-producer Suresh Oberoi in the role of a sadhu.
PM Narendra Modi will be released on 5 April, less than a week before the first phase of polling in the seven-phase general election.
