Malcolm Nance’s Bio

An intelligence and foreign policy analyst, Malcolm Wrightson Nance was born on the 20th of September 1961 in Philadelphia. He holds American citizenship and belongs to the African-American ethnicity. Malcolm grew up in a military family with his five brothers also serving in the Navy. His father is from Georgia and was a master chief petty officer, who had served in the army in World War 1 and World war II whereas his mother is from Charleston, South Carolina.

He completed his primary Education at Philadelphia’s West Catholic Boys High School where he studied Spanish, French and Latin languages and took free classes in Russian and Chinese offered at South Philadelphia High school.

Malcolm graduated with a bachelor degree of Arts from the New York’s Excelsior College in 2011. He is active in the field of national security policy particularly, anti and counter-terrorism intelligence, terrorist strategy, and tactics, torture and counter-ideology in combating Islamic extremism.

Career

Malcolm Nance began his career in the civilian intelligence arena through research into the history of the Soviet Union and spying agency (KGB). He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 20 where he served for two decades, earning several military decorations. As a Navy specialist in Naval Cryptology, Malcolm was involved in numerous combat operations, counter-terrorism, and intelligence. Also, he was an instructor in Peacetime Survival, Resistance and Escape, Evasion, training Navy as well as Marine Corps pilots and aircrew on how to survive as a prisoner of war.

After the 1983 Beirut barracks bombings, Malcolm took part in the combat operations and served on USS wainwright throughout Operation Praying Mantis. Also on-board, he was active during the sinking of the Iranian missile boat Joshan. Malcolm was also part of the US troops during the Gulf War and assisted during Banja Luka and Bosnia air strike.

Malcolm, in 2001, retired from the Navy where he founded Special Readiness Service International (SRSI) and also served as an intelligence and security contractor in North Africa, the UAE, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Furthermore, from 2005-2007, he served as a visiting lecturer of counter-terrorism at the Macquarie University of Wellington in Wellington, New Zealand.

As an intelligence and a foreign policy analyst, Malcolm discusses the history, and organization of jihad radicalization, al-Qaeda and the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) as well as counter-insurgency and asymmetric warfare.

Asides from working in counter-terrorism and intelligence, Malcolm is an author and has published several books including Hacking ISIS, The Plot to Hack America, Defeating ISIS, The Terrorist of Iraq, Terrorist Recognition Handbook and An End to al-Qaeda. He, in 2007, wrote an article titled Waterboarding in Torture. A piece which strongly swayed the Pentagon against the use of the waterboard. In 2018, Malcolm published The Plot to Destroy Democracy: How Putin and Spies Are Undermining America and Dismantling the West.

Malcolm is married to Maryse Beliveau-Nance, however, details about his married life is not known. Maryse was born in Indiana, raised in Montreal and belongs to Canadian and French ancestry. In an interview, he said that his partner adopted three children who were born in 1990, 1991, 1993 from Moscow and they raised them in pre-teens, which he believes is a crucial part in a child’s development.

On the 18th of April 2018, he announced that his spouse battled stage 4 cancer through an article published in Philadelphia. Also, on the 28th of April 2018, Malcolm tweeted revealing that his family received more than 50 death threats possibly by those offended by his political views.
