Maharshi postponed by two weeks; new release date is May 9

Superstar Mahesh Babu’s upcoming Telugu film Maharshi, which was scheduled to be released on 25 April, has been postponed by two weeks, according to its makers. In a press meet on Wednesday, producer Dil Raju announced that the film will now be released on 9 May.

The reason for postponement, according to producer Raju, is the post-production process which is taking more time than expected. The makers also revealed that most of the shoot except for two songs will be completed by 15 March.

Maharshi, which happens to be Mahesh Babu’s 25th film, marks his maiden collaboration with director Vamshi Paidipally.

The film, which has music by Devi Sri Prasad, also stars Pooja Hedge and Allari Naresh in important roles.

Earlier this week, Mahesh announced that he had decided to opt out of his next project with Sukumar following creative differences.

In a tweet, Mahesh said that he would always respect him as a filmmaker par excellence.

“Due to creative differences, my film with Sukumar is not happening. I wish him all the best on the announcement of his new project. Respect always for a filmmaker par excellence. 1 – Nenokkadine (2014) will remain as a cult classic. Enjoyed every moment working on that film,” Mahesh tweeted.

The industry grapevine is that Mahesh will next join hands with director Anil Ravipudi of F2 – Fun and Frustration (2019) fame. The regular shoot of this project will commence from May or June this year.
