Kangana Ranaut-starrer Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi had collected a good Rs40.25 crore nett in its opening weekend, and needed to perform well on its first Monday too. However, the film collected a mere Rs4.50 crore nett on its first Monday, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com.
This is a 40% drop from the opening day collection [Rs7.75 crore nett], but over 65% drop from the Sunday collection [Rs14.75 crore nett]. Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’s total stands at Rs44.75 crore nett in four days.
This is not a bad figure, but when you consider the budget of the film [more than Rs100 crore], the film needed to do better.
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi has been released on 3,000 screens in India. Co-directed by Ranaut and Radha Krishna Jagarlmudi, better known as Krish, the film is produced by Zee Studios, Kairos Kontent and Nishant Pitti. The film is a biopic on Rani Laxmibai, the warrior queen of Jhansi.
Meanwhile, there is no stopping Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike. The film is in its third week, and continues to chip in with consistent box office numbers.
The film, produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP, made Rs3 crore nett on its third Monday, and it has now collected Rs160.24 crore nett in domestic business.
Made at an estimated budget of Rs28 crore, Uri: The Surgical Strike has turned out to be the first blockbuster of 2019. The film was released on 2,200 screens in India. Uri has bagged Rs14 crore for a combined deal of satellite and digital rights, and a further Rs2 crore through music rights [all sold to Zee].
