Junglee does average business, Notebook has poor first week

After Akshay Kumar’s Kesari (2019), there has been nothing much for the film trade to cheer at the box office with the subsequent releases failing to make much of an impression.

Vidyut Jammwal’s Junglee made just Rs20 crore nett in the first week, as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com. Made on an estimated budget of Rs35 crore, Junglee was released on close to 2,000 screens across India. Directed by American filmmaker Chuck Russell, Junglee has been produced by Junglee Pictures.

Meanwhile, the much-hyped Salman Khan production Notebook (2019) had a terrible first week, bagging just Rs.4.50 crore nett. The film marked the acting debut of Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan Bahl. Made on an estimated budget of Rs20 crore, the film had been released on 800 screens across India.

Among holdover releases, it was Kesari that continued to be steady at the box office. The historical film Kesari made Rs29.75 crore nett in its second week to take its domestic business to Rs135.75 crore nett.

Sujoy Ghosh’s Badla also did well in its fourth week, bagging Rs5.50 crore nett. The Red Chillies Entertainment film has so far bagged Rs83.02 crore nett in India business.
