Actor Jayam Ravi, who was last seen playing a policeman with a violent streak in thriller Adanga Maru (2018), will be seen playing a farmer in his next yet untitled film with director Lakshman. This project happens to be Ravi’s 25th film.
Last year, it was reported that Ravi will reunite with his filmmaker brother Mohan Raja for Thani Oruvan 2 as his 25th film. However, on Friday, it was announced that Ravi will be teaming up with director Lakshman next.
Talking to The Times Of India newspaper, Lakshman confirmed that Ravi will be seen playing a farmer in the film which will be shot entirely against a village backdrop.
“Unlike in his previous 24 films, the actor will be giving it back to the society with this film. It has an agriculture-based subject, and he will be playing a farmer. There will be a social message, on the lines of Shankar sir’s films,” Lakshman said, adding that Ravi’s look will take audiences by surprise.
“This will not be one of those regular villages, but something like the one we see in Thiruda Thiruda,” he said.
The film is expected to go on the floors from 15 June. D Imman has been finalised to compose music.
Ravi currently awaits the release of Komaali, starring Kajal Aggarwal and Samyuktha Hegde.
Ravi is also expected to begin work on Thani Oruvan 2 with his brother later this year.
Last year, on the occasion of third anniversary of Thani Oruvan (2015), Mohan Raja had said that the sequel will also be a social thriller.
“Just like the first part, Thani Oruvan 2 will have similar premise of a social backdrop. It’ll be an engrossing cat and mouse thriller between the protagonist and antagonist,” he had said in a statement.
