How Ranveer Singh’s Murad became Gully Boy: Dialogue promo

Two recently released dialogue promos from Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, due to be released in theatres on Valentine’s Day next week, give sneak peeks at some interesting details of the characters portrayed by Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the film.

In the first promo, we get a look at one more scene of Bhatt’s fiesty Safeena. Bhatt’s dialogue from the trailer, ‘Mar jayega re tu [You will die],’ is already a huge hit.

In this promo, Bhatt once again shows the possessive girlfriend that she is by reprimanding her boyfriend for replying to a young woman who is hitting on him. ‘Tu reply kai ko kiya [Why did you reply]?’ she says in a menacing tone. While the dialogue is not as kickass as the earlier one, it is still quite entertaining.

The second promo gives us an insight into how Ranveer Singh’s character Murad came to be known as ‘Gully Boy’ once he became a rapper. An already popular rapper MC Sher, played by Siddhant Chaturvedi, suggests that Murad come up with a rap name that represents who he is. Murad replies in a jiffy, “Kya hai! Gully ka chokra hai.’ And that becomes Gully Boy!

The dialogues of the film, which is loosely based on the lives of Naezy and Divine, who rose from Mumbai’s slums to become famous rappers, have been written by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti.
