Actor-composer GV Prakash Kumar, who already has nearly half a dozen projects at various stages of production in his kitty, is believed to have been signed on as the lead in Mani Ratnam’s next yet-untitled Tamil production.
The project, slated to go on the floors soon, will be the directorial debut of Dhana Sekaran, a former associate of Ratnam, who has also penned the story of the film.
Apparently, Ratnam was supposed to direct the project, but he dropped the idea as he got busy with his other commitments, including his project, a modern-day adaptation of Ponniyin Selvan.
After winning hearts with his music in Vijay Sethupathi’s 96 and Seethakathi in 2018, Govinda Vasantha has been signed to compose music.
In November 2018, announcing the news on his Instagram page, Govind said: “With the man who brought Velu Nayakan [from Nayakan (1987)] and Anandan [from Iruvar (1997)] to life in front of us. Honoured to have signed up for a movie to be produced and co-written by The Mani Ratnam. To be directed by Dhana Sekaran.”
Meanwhile, Prakash currently awaits the release of Sarvam Thala Mayam, Watchman, 100 Percent Kaadhal, 4G, Jail and Adangathey among others. On the music front, he has been roped in for Suriya’s next project with Sudha Kongara.
