Dangal (2016) girls Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra will reunite for director Anurag Basu’s next project. While the film is untitled so far, the release date has been announced — 6 September 2019.
Apart from Shaikh and Malhotra, the film has an ensemble cast of Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi and Aditya Roy Kapur. The film will be produced under Bhushan Kumar’s banner T-Series.
An official statement from the producers, said, “The multi-starrer film is an action comedy that is about unavoidable jeopardies of life! The film has four different stories set in a quintessential Indian metro. It is a slice of life film with stories intersecting with each other with drama and emotion.”
There have been speculations over the film being a sequel to Basu’s Life In A Metro (2007). While the description in the official statement sounds much like it, there has been no such announcement from the makers.
Basu has already shot portions of the film in Mumbai with Bachchan and with Rajkummar and Shaikh in Bhopal. The rest of the cast will soon start shooting for the film. The official statement also revealed that Basu would be casting a few more actors.
Speaking about collaborating with T-Series, Basu said in an official statement, “It’s my pleasure to be working with Mr Bhushan Kumar for my next that is a dark comic anthology. It’s our first collaboration but doesn’t seems like one. I am extremely happy to have found this talented new generation cast, though I will trust my old friend Pritam for music as always! [sic]”
Post Dangal (2016), Malhotra was seen in Pataakha (2018) and Badhaai Ho (2018) and Shaikh in Thugs Of Hindostan (2018).
