It appears to be a strategy by the makers of PM Narendra Modi to include words and terms used by India’s prime minister in the past few years in his biopic.
Two dialogues promos released recently had the word ‘chowkidar’ in them. The prime minister had started the ‘Main bhi chowkidar’ campaign last month as a promotional strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Modi has also described himself as a fakir, or ascetic, on quite a few occasions in the past few years. One of his famous quotes during a speech went, ‘Arre! Hum toh fakir aadmi hain. Jhola uthake chal padenge ji.” Poet and lyricist Prasoon Joshi, chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification, stressed the same word while describing Modi during a televised interaction with him in April last year in London.
So now we have a song titled ‘Fakeera’ from the film. It looks at the phase of life when Modi (Vivek Anand Oberoi) is claimed to have become a wandering ascetic. It starts off with an emotional scene as he takes leave of his mother (Zarina Wahab). We also get to see some picturesque snowy locations in the Himalayas.
The song shows that Modi went through a lot of physical and mental ordeals before meeting another ascetic played by Vivek’s father, veteran actor and film co-producer Suresh Oberoi.
Vivek Oberoi isn’t quite convincing as a wandering, worn-out ascetic. But ‘Fakeera’ is quite an impressive song to listen to. It is a spiritually uplifting track with deep vocals by Raja Hasan and Shashi Suman. Meghdeep Bose’s music smartly fluctuates between low and high notes in an organic way.
Directed by Omung Kumar, PM Narendra Modi is slated for release on 5 April. Watch the song below and let us know if you are keen to watch this.
