Former Bigg Boss contestant Armaan Kohli’s Juhu residence was raided by the Maharashtra state excise department last evening. The team seized alcohol worth Rs1.99 lakh from his residence. The actor was produced in Bandra court today.
Confirming the raid, Rajesh Bhapkar, sub-inspector, excise department told Cinestaan.com, “We had received information about the actor stacking up alcohol in his house more than the permissible limits. We carried out a raid at his residence last evening where we seized 41 sealed bottles of alcohol worth Rs1.99 lakh. Besides, we found 35 empty bottles. All the liquor bottles have been purchased through duty-free.”
Bhapkar pointed out that a person is permitted to carry two bottles bought from duty-free outlets at airports, but possessing such bottles in such a large quantity requires a special permit. “He had stacked up so many bottles presumably for parties, a social function in the house. In such events the law requires you to take the necessary government permit which costs Rs20,000 per day,” said the officer.
Kohli was booked under Section 65 E of The Bombay Prohibition Act 1949. The maximum penalty for the offense is said to be Rs50,000.
We tried contacting Kohli for a quote, but he was not available.
Kohli was in the news recently for assaulting his former girlfriend Neeru Randhawa.
