Dulquer Salmaan’s new Tamil film Vaan officially launched

Popular Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan, who recently made inroads into Hindi cinema with Karwaan (2018), is carving his own niche in Tamil cinema as well. Having already starred in three Tamil films, including Mani Ratnam’s O Kadhal Kanmani (2015), he is now all set to commence work on his fourth Tamil outing, Vaan, a travel-based film.

To be helmed by first-time director Ra. Karthik, the film was officially launched in a customary ceremony on Wednesday (5 December) in Chennai.

The film will feature three female leads and the makers have already finalised Kriti Kharbhanda and Kalyani Priyadarshan. Karthik revealed that the third heroine will be locked in a couple of weeks.

Soon after the launch, Dulquer took to Facebook to announce the development: “So excited to begin Ra Karthik’s Vaan, produced by Kenanya Films. I think it’s no big secret that I love travel and travel movies so I’m absolutely thrilled for this film.” It has taken more than a year for this project to materialise due to various reasons, Dulquer’s multiple commitments being one of them.

Karthik confirmed that the film will be shot in Tamil Nadu and across exotic places in north India. “People have a misconception that if there are three heroines in a film, it would be a romantic one. But, I can vouch that my film will be unique and different in all possible ways. It will be a feel-good flick suitable for all age groups,” Karthik said in a statement.

The technical team includes cinematographer George C Williams, award winning editor A Sreekar Prasad and first-time composer Dheena Dhayalan. The makers are in the process of finalising the rest of the cast.
