Actor Dhanush, who was last seen playing a local ruffian in Maari 2 (2018), will be seen playing dual roles — as father and son — in Vetrimaaran’s upcoming revenge drama Asuran, which is gearing up for release this summer.
According to reports in a leading Tamil daily, Dhanush plays both father and son in the film, based on the popular novel Vekkai by Poomani.
It is also believed that Dhanush plays dual roles in upcoming yet-untitled Durai Senthil Kumar film, which also stars Sneha.
Dhanush had also played dual roles as twin brothers in Senthil Kumar’s Kodi, a political thriller.
Asuran marks the Tamil debut of popular Malayalam actress Manju Warrier. She has been paired opposite Dhanush for the first time and this exciting combination has already created quite a buzz on social media.
While the makers are yet to reveal the rest of the cast and crew, it has however been learnt from reliable sources that popular Tamil director Balaji Sakthivel, known for helming critically-acclaimed films like Kaadhal (2004) and Vazhakku Enn 18/9 (2003), has been roped in to play the antagonist.
Composer GV Prakash Kumar has been signed to take care of music and this will be his fourth collaboration with Dhanush and third with Vetrimaaran.
After wrapping up this project, Vetrimaaran will return to finish the pending work on the second part of the multigenerational gangster drama franchise Vada Chennai, which featured Dhanush as a carrom player who gets sucked into the world of politics and rowdyism.
