Dev Entertainment Ventures launched the motion poster of their upcoming film Hobu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Mantri, directed by Aniket Chattopadhyay, at a press conference on the auspicious day of Saraswati Puja.
The production house had started working on the biopic of Padma Shri social worker Subhasini Mistry in the winter, but they had to postpone the project to the monsoon as they have many sequences of rain and vegetation in the film.
When Chattopadhyay first proposed Hobu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Mantri to Dev Adhikari, the latter was not too keen on making the film. However, his mind changed as soon as Chakraborty finished narrating the script. “I think Hobu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Mantri is one of the best stories I have heard from Aniket da,” said Adhikari.
“I wanted to make this film for a long time, but the production cost of a fairy tale is huge. I thought of proposing the story to Dev because I knew that he could only afford enough finance to aid such a project,” said Chattopadhyay.
Chattopadhyay had narrated the story keeping Adhikari in mind as the protagonist. “But from the beginning, Dev had somebody else in his imagination – Saswata Chatterjee, who plays the protagonist in the film,” added Chattopadhyay.
Based on noted author Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumdar’s two stories Hobu Chandra Raja and Sarkarer Chhele, the film features Kharaj Mukherjee in the second lead role.
The film will be shot by Harinder Siingh and edited by Rabi Ranjan Maitra. Eminent songwriter and singer Kabir Suman will be working as the music director of the film after five years since Jaatiswar (2014).
