A source close to production has confirmed to us that indeed well-known dubbing artiste Chetan Shashital has been roped in to record the voice of Bal Thackeray’s character in the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer Thackeray (2019).
We had reported some days ago that the makers of Thackeray had heeded the advice and demands of the netizens to replace actor Sachin Khedekar’s voice for the legendary Thackeray on whom the film is based. The audience had expressed its displeasure over Khedekar’s voice through numerous comments on social media.
Recently, the makers also replaced the old Marathi trailer of the film on YouTube and replaced it with the new one with Shashital’s voice.
Shashital has been a well-known dubbing and voice over artiste since the 1990s. Apart from Thackeray, he has the ability to mimic other prominent personalities like Sachin Tendulkar and Amitabh Bachchan.
He has given voices for a lot of Hollywood films that are dubbed in Hindi, including the Star Wars series. He has also given voices for animal films and television series. In fact, he has also dubbed for Hindi film actors who were unavailable for dubbing their own films on a few occasions.
Directed by Abhijit Panse, Thackeray will be released in Marathi and Hindi on 25 January.
