Casting director Mukesh Chhabra is stepping in front of the camera once again for the short film Kirdaar where he plays an actor. The long-time casting director plays Aman, an actor who notices how life changes around him while working on a project. Semwal’s short also features actress Pooja Gor.
Chhabra said, “I am not really an actor, Swati has been a dear friend for a long time. She has always been passionate towards her work and hence I did it for her. Being a filmmaker, I understand the overall process of filmmaking and I really appreciate Swati as she pays so much attention to the minutest details. It was a wonderful experience working with her.”
He has previously done small parts in films like Rang De Basanti (2006), Kaminey (2009), Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), Bombay Velvet (2015), and Rajma Chawal (2018). Chhabra turns director with the upcoming Dil Bechara (2019), starring Sushant Singh Rajput and newcomer Sanjana Sanghi. The film is an official remake of the Hollywood film The Fault In Our Stars (2014).
Semwal, who has acted in Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) and Fanney Khan (2018), said of Chhabra’s casting, “When I thought of making Kirdaar, the first person who came to my mind was Mukesh as he has given Indian cinema some incredible talents. He understands the mindset of an actor when they get a break in the industry and how life changes for them. The story of Kirdaar is also on the similar term. Working with him made it easier for me to execute my vision.”
She has also directed shorts like Blossom In Love, Dildo Laa Rey, Abnormal, and Sameera – The Unusual-Unconditional Love. Kirdaar is available on Net Pix Short, the brain child of First Step Entertainment Capital.
