Boman Irani to play Ratan Tata in Narendra Modi biopic

Actor Vivek Oberoi’s turn as prime minister Narendra Modi will also see Boman Irani play industrialist Ratan Tata. The film is directed by Omung Kumar, and will also feature Barkha Bisht as Modi’s wife, Jashodaben, and Zarina Wahab as his mother, Heeraben.

The actor’s look, dressed in a dapper black suit, was released by Kumar on his social media. Irani recently launched his own production house, Irani Talkies.

Speaking about the film, Irani told The Indian Express, “I have always received comments on social media that I resemble Mr Ratan Tata. I always thought the day the character comes along, I will be more than happy to play it. So when Omung, Sandip and Vivek called me for the role, I immediately agreed to do it. We have already shot my part and it went very well.”

The report also quoted Irani praising Oberoi’s work in the film saying, “I must say that Vivek has worked really hard to get where he has gotten with the character. It was a pleasure to see him maturing into an artiste who takes on such a difficult role. He has done it with great maturity and homework.”

The film will also feature Prashant Narayanan in the role of an antagonist who is also an industrialist.

The release date of PM Narendra Modi has not been finalised yet. The cast is currently filming in Ahmedabad.
