After Karan Johar’s Kalank and Takht, it is Bhuj: The Pride Of India that is going to have an ensemble star cast. The war movie based on the Indo-Pak war of 1971 has Ajay Devgn playing the led role of Squadran Leader Vijay Karnik, which was announced yesterday. Parineeti Chopra took to twitter to announce the entire cast of the film on Wednesday.

Apart from Ajay Devgn and Parineeti Chopra, the film has Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Rana Daggubati, and Ammy Virk in key roles. Bhuj: The Pride Of India will be directed by writer Abhishek Dudhaiya.
Sharing her excitement, Parineeti Chopra wrote, “The most special true story ever.
While Parineeti plays femme fatale’ Heena Rehman, Sonakshi plays social worker Sunderben Jetha Madharparya. Sanjay will be playing civilian Ranchordas Svabhai Ravari, Rana a Lieutenant Colonel from the Madras Regiment and Ammy will don the Indian Air Force uniform as a fighter pilot.
Then Squadron Leader, Vijay Karnik was in-charge of the Bhuj airbase in Gujarat during the Indo-Pak war of 1971. He along with 50 Air Force and 60 DSC personnel survived heaving bombing from Pakistan to keep the Bhuj airbase operational during the war. Karnik and his team convinced around 300 women from a nearby village to help them rebuild the airstrip so that a flight carrying Indian Army officers could land safely.
Vijay Karnik is delighted to know that Ajay Devgn will be portraying him on the big screen. Talking about the war, he said, “We were fighting a war and if there had been any casualties of any of these women, it would have been a great loss. But I took the decision and it worked out. I had briefed them where they could take shelter if attacked and they followed it bravely. Also, I could only see Ajay Devgn essaying my character and I’m glad that he’s on board.”
