After making his directorial debut with Kothanodi (2015), filmmaker Bhaskar Hazarika is back in action with Aamis which makes its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in competition this April.
Starring Lima Das, Arghadeep Baruah, Neetali Das, Sagar Saurabh, the film tells the story of a married woman, Niri, who strikes up a friendship with Sumon and bond over a love of food. As they get to know each better, will their relationship lead to something more?
Aamis, produced by Poonam Deol and Shyam Bora, was part of the Asian Project Market in Busan and NFDC Film Bazaar in 2017.
Meanwhile, in the US narrative section, Sonejuhi Sinha’s Stray Dolls will also have its world premiere in competition. The film stars Geetanjali Thapa as an immigrant in the US to takes up a motel job, only to fall back into old ways. Olivia DeJonge, Robert Aramayo, Cynthia Nixon are also part of the cast.
The 12-day festival will be held from 24 April to 4 May.
