Actor Arun Vijay, last seen playing a crucial role in Mani Ratnam’s crime-thriller Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, will be seen playing a boxer in his upcoming film Boxer. On Monday (19 November), on the occasion of Arun’s birthday, the project was officially announced along with its title poster.
The actor did a photoshoot a couple of weeks ago that got everyone talking. Turns out, it was for this project and he underwent a transformation to get ripped to play a boxer. The film will be directed by Vivek, an erstwhile associate of director Bala.
According to reports, the film will be an emotional drama on the life of a boxer. Apparently, Arun is really excited about finally doing a sports film in his career. In a statement, director Vivek said the film will be both, inspirational and sporty. The film’s story revolves around Arun’s fight with his own self. He has to fight his negative side to emerge victorious.
Arun will travel abroad to take a crash course in boxing before the shoot commences. He will learn both freestyle and normal boxing. National award-winning stunt choreographer Peter Hein is helping Arun find the right boxing coach to train under.
If everything goes as planned, the shoot of Boxer will begin next year in March or April. Before commencing work on this project, Arun will finish shooting for an action-based project with Vijay Antony. He also awaits the release of Magizh Thirumeni’s crime-thriller Thadam.
