Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra wrapped up the final schedule of their upcoming film Kesari in Jaipur today (17 December).
The film is based on the great Battle of Saragarhi of 1897 fought between the British Indian Army and the Afghans. Akshay plays the character of Havildar Ishar Singh from the Sikh regiment, who fought valiantly against the Afghans.
Kesari had gone on floors in January this year. The film faced a major hurdle when its set was destroyed in a major fire in Wai in April this year. The incident took place when a war sequence was being shot. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
The film is set to be released on 21 March 2019, on the festival of Holi.
After the film was wrapped up today, Akshay posted a picture on his Twitter handle and wrote, “And it’s a wrap for #Kesari…a film which swells up my chest with immense pride. See you in cinemas on 21st March, 2019.”
Kesari marks the comeback of director Anurag Singh in Hindi cinema. He debuted with Hindi film Raqeeb in 2007 and followed it up with Punjabi films like Jatt & Juliet (2012), Jatt & Juliet 2 (2013) and Super Singh (2017).
