Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha praise surgical strike 2.0 on Pakistan

The Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out “pre-emptive strikes” on Jaish-e-Mohammed bases in Pakistan early on Tuesday morning. The strikes were in retaliation of the Pulwama terror attacks on 14 February, for which the organisation had claimed responsibilty. While social media praised the move, the film industry came out in full support of the military action.

Akshay Kumar was among the many to take to Twitter to praise the action by the Indian Air Force.

Despite the high of patriotism running through social media, Abhishek Bachchan kept it low key with a symbolic salute.

Ajay Devgn had no compunctions going full ‘macho’ as he praised the Indian Air Force to be the ‘best’.

Even Sonakshi Sinha got in on the patriotism act, as she tweeted out ‘Jai Hind’.

John Abraham plugged in his upcoming film, Romeo Akbar Walter, which deals with the life of a spy during the 1971 war against Pakistan. The actor also reminded his followers about the air attack being the first such strike since the 1971 war, during which 500 sorties were flown across the border by the Indian Air Force.

Baahubali director SS Rajamouli also paid his respects to the IAF as he praised them on social media.

Border (1997) actor Suniel Shetty kept it simple by posting an image of the Indian flag on his social media feed.

He was followed by Anupam Kher, who also shared a simple statement on the feed.

The strikes took place at 03.30 am on Tuesday with the IAF dropping a payload of 1000kg bombs on the targets.
