After Manikarnika, Kangana Ranaut to direct a film on her own life

While biopics are the flavour of the season, actress Kangana Ranaut is upstaging every biopic to come in the next year. The actress is reportedly planning to direct a film on her own life. The script will be written by KV Vijayendra Prasad, who also wrote her directorial debut, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019).

Speaking to the tabloid Mumbai Mirror, the actress confirmed the news saying, “Yes, it’s true. My own story is the subject of my next directorial [venture]. But it is not a propaganda film filled with characters who are starkly black or white, rather it is a sincere, heartfelt account of my journey so far with plenty of lighter moments.”

The actress turned director this year with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. While it was Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi, popularly known as Krish, who was originally the director for the project, Ranaut reportedly stepped in after differences between her and Krish. Krish later took to the media complaining about Ranaut’s treatment of him, and the actors who were part of the project.

Apart from Krish, Sonu Sood and Mishti Chakraborty also spoke up against the decision to take over the directorial reins.

The report also quoted Ranaut stating that the film will touch upon subjects of controversy that she has gone through in her journey to stardom. While she maintained that ‘no names will be taken’, the film will touch upon the key controversies around films such as Manikarnika (2019), Gangster (2006) and Queen (2014).

Vijayendra Prasad has already begun work on the script, and the film is likely to go on the floors in October-November this year.
