Omung Kumar’s PM Narendra Modi biopic is generating some unwanted controversy on the eve of the general election for the party in power.
On Friday, lyricist Javed Akhtar issued a denial on social media regarding his name appearing in the trailer for the film.
He was soon followed by another veteran lyricist, Sameer Anjaan, issuing a similar statement.
On his Twitter account, Sameer wrote, ‘I am surprised to find my name in the film PM Narendra Modi. I have not written any song for any such film.’
Mujhe hairat hai apana naam pm narendra Modi film me dekh karr , Maine aisi kisi film me koi gaana nahi likha hai ..

Earlier, Javed Akhtar had expressed ‘shock’ at finding his name included among several lyricists such as Prasoon Joshi, Sameer, Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay, Sardaraa, and Parry G in the trailer end credits.
The film has also run into some trouble with the Election Commission over its full-page advertisment in the leading Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar. The electoral officer of the East Delhi parliamentary constituency has pulled up the makers and the newspaper for infringing the model code of conduct in place for the general elections.
The film, directed by Omung Kumar and featuring Vivek Anand Oberoi in the lead, was initially scheduled for release on 12 April. However, the film’s release date was later advanced to 5 April.
