Having known how to play baseball in high school, Anthony Rendon is one player who has displayed his skill and expertise with reckless abandon. He plays as the third baseman for the Washington Nationals of Major Baseball League. He is known for always chewing gum and it makes you wonder if the gum adds glucose to his system…LOL! It has been attested to by his parents that his passion for baseball began at the age of 3 when he would take aim and make throws at any object he comes across.

Anthony Rendon’s Biography

The star was born as Anthony Michael Rendon on June 6, 1990, the second son of his parents; Rene and Bridget Rendon. Rendon grew up in Houston and was an ‘A’ student. He was a three-sport kid during his middle school days at Hodges Bend Middle School where he played basketball, was a track athlete and most importantly, was also a baseball player. He attended George Bush High School and transferred to Lamar High School. He is 1.83 m tall and earns 2.8 million USD as of 2016. His current club is the Washington Nationals, where his plays with the jersey No. 6.

Rendon was so good in baseball that as a senior, he had .570 hits with eight home runs, 17 doubles, 56 Runs batted in, 56 runs scored and 13 stolen bases after he was selected as a first team 5A all-state Shortstop and an All-Greater Houston selection by the Houston Chronicle. He turned down the Atlanta Braves’ signing bonus and played for Rice University where he was coached by Wayne Graham. Winning the Dick Howser award for the year 2010, Rendon got his chance to better play when he was selected sixth overall in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft

Excelling greatly in his games, Rendon was well received by critics for his many record-breaking feats. In 2009, Rendon made the good round as a fresher when he was named Baseball America’s Freshman of the Year, All-America, Freshman All-American, NCBWA’s District VII Player of the Year, NCAA All-Regional Team, Conference USA Player of the Year, All-Conference USA, Conference USA All-Tournament Team and MVP of the Silver Glove Series at the University of Houston. He was also nominated for the Dick Howser Trophy and the Golden Spikes Award both of which he never actually won.

Injury and Other Recognitions

During his last games in the Baton Rouge Super Regional, Rendon sustained an ankle injury which required a surgery to be corrected. When he returned, he went right back to being his awesome self on the pitch. He won the Dick Howser Trophy and was made Baseball America’s College Player of the Year which he was the first underclassman to win in well over ten years. He was named Conference USA player of the year twice because he finished the season with .394 hits with 26 home runs and 85 runs batted in. His home runs were the second highest single-season total ever recorded by the school. Rendon soon suffered another injury to his right ankle during a baseball match with South Korea.

In an attempt to honor his many spectacular feats, former Houston’s Mayor, Annise Parker declared June 29, 2010, as Anthony Rendon day. He was rated the best prospect in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft and was selected as the sixth overall in that season. He clubbed his first major league home run off Vinnie of the Cleveland Indians. He had .265/.329/.396 triple slash with seven home runs across 98 games with the major league club that season in 98 games.

In 2015, Rendon sprained his medial collateral ligament in his left knee and strained an oblique muscle while having treatment on the sprained. Although he basically plays as third baseman, he has often played as both the first baseman and the second baseman. He was named the National League comeback player of the year due to his drive in the out-run clout.
