Gautham Menon lands pivotal role in Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy

According to the industry grapevine, filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon may have landed a pivotal role in Adithya Varma, the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy, which marks the debut of Dhruv Vikram.

Reports have emerged that Menon has been approached to play the role of Dhruv’s father in the remake, which was originally launched with national award-winning filmmaker Bala, but later scrapped after the producers were disappointed with the output.

Menon has so far played minor roles in films such as Goli Soda 2 (2018) and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2016).

In February, the makers announced that the entire film will be reshot with a new cast and crew. October (2018) actress Banita Sandhu was roped in to play the leading lady while Priya Anand has been signed up to essay a key role. The film’s name was also changed from Varmaa to Adithya Varma.

Girisayya, erstwhile assistant of Arjun Reddy director Sandeep Vanga, has been roped in to direct the new version of the remake.

If everything goes as planned, the makers will commence shooting from April.

Arjun Reddy (2017), which features Vijay Deverakonda in a breakout role, is the story of an obsessive lover with an alcohol problem.

Well-known lensman Ravi K Chandran has been signed on to crank the camera. An interesting fact is that while Ravi is working on the Tamil version of Arjun Reddy; his son Santhana Krishnan is working on the Hindi version, Kabir Singh.
